I actually only got this partially to reduce plastic pollution. The other bigger part was to protect all of my really delicate "plant" fabrics- lyocell, modal, bamboo... Most of my clothes are made from these because other fibers hurt my skin. I still wash cotton blends, household items, and my husband's workout clothes in the washer.
So, my main problem was adding too many items to one bag. This threw off the balance in my washer and made the drum go crazy. Maybe this would be solved with two bags. Anyway, most of my clothes are not washed in the bag now. However, I've noticed that a lot of fibers cling to the outside of the bag when I remove it and can be easily peeled off. That's kind of interesting and I hope that is helping in some way.
This bag would surely be very effective for anyone who washes a small amount of items in a manual washer or even by hand.
